Many times when you apply for a job you are asked if you have ever been
convicted of a crime.
If you have had a felony conviction expunged, you can legally answer "no" to
this question.
Expungement is a procedure whereby you can ask the court to basically expunge
or delete your criminal conviction. You are only eligible to do this if you:
Have completed all your sentencing obligations to the court;
The appropriate time limit has expired; and
The crime you were convicted of is one the law permits you to expunge.
In Washington, the law does not have a provision to expunge felonies;
Although the legislature is considering a bill to permit expungement of
misdemeanors.
